Four stages under our belt and we definitely needed a break! After yesterday’s problems with the Cicerone guide book, Alison has gone through our new Miam Miam Dodo book to check the lay of the land and highlighted almost all of our accommodation locations so we don’t go in circles when we arrive into towns. I’ve also downloaded the trail to my watch and iPhone and downloaded the Miam Miam Dodo app, so no more excuses on that front😁. From the new (and more informative) book it looks like the first three stages are amongst the most difficult and the fourth stage, yesterday, was made difficult because of the rain and the fact we did not stop between Saint-Alban and Aumont. The weather is looking good for the next few days, so it looks like some easier days ahead.
We washed and dried a tonne of stuff after coming in with fairly wet and dirty gear yesterday rested a bit and then ate at Cyril Attrazic, one of the restaurants in the hotel and one of the Michelin star restaurants we hope to go to on the walk. The food was fantastic albeit a bit pretentious for us but we had a nice time and it was a great way to finish the day and the first stage🥂🍷🍽!
We managed to get a bit of a look around Aumont this morning before the rain set in again – lucky we’re not walking today, it actually hailed at one point💧❄️. It is a lovely little town (population < 2000) so not much to do but rest, which is just what we needed.
We got out again for a short walk this afternoon to try to find the nearest route to the GR 65 from our hotel, so we are ready to go again!
