Conques is just a beautiful little town – perfect for a rest day as there is not too far to walk! It is home to a very large church called the Abbey Church of Saint Foy, dedicated to and containing the relics of a young woman martyred in the 4th century and a pilgrim destination in its own right.
Apparently it was also the inspiration for the village in the Disney animation “Beauty and the Beast”!
We’ve managed to catch up on all our washing, pack our cold and wet weather gear away (although it’s raining today, the forecast is for very hot over the next few days!), have a few drinks and some very nice meals.
There are some nice shops and Alison did a bit of souvenir hunting and I’ve bought a new hat to help with the heat – we will be in the Cele valley when it gets hot, so hoping for some shade!
