The walk back into town was worth it – we had a couple of drinks, watched a bit of the Djokovic-Federer final and had a very nice meal, once again running into our Canadian friends because there was only one restaurant in town open!
Breakfast was as disappointing as everything else about our accommodation but we didn’t want to walk back down the hill into town for food because there was no guarantee anything would be open because it’s Monday. We had half a bottle of wine leftover from dinner last night so we stuck that in my backpack and headed off just after 8:30am, hoping that somehow we would come across a shop where we could buy supplies…
We took a closer look at the cathedral near our accommodation – again, it’s amazing that such great buildings are just everywhere – and then headed out of town. Just before the suburb began to thin out we found this absolutely fantastic organic food store, amazingly open on a Monday, and stocked up with food for the day. We only had a short walk but we knew there was literally nothing along the trail today, and nothing in the town we were heading to other than our chambres d’hotes and a few others (which usually do not offer lunch), so if we hadn’t found the store we would have been a bit peckish and irritable by dinner time!
Anyway, the universe provided and we set off with a real spring in our step, first past a very nice lake, lac du Brousseau, and then through acres and acres and acres of corn. You can see from the photos that the sections were long, flat and straight, but the surface was pretty good and we made great time, stopping first after a couple of hours for morning tea and then after four hours for lunch. It was obviously our lucky day, because both times a picnic area appeared at the right time!
Our Canadian friends caught us at both stops and after the second one we walked together again into Miramont-Sensaqc. It is a small town and we’re all staying at the same chambres d’hote, which is 700m down a road just before town they hadn’t had the same luck with food so they headed into town while we went straight to the property, which is absolutely fantastic! We had a drink and a swim in the pool before relaxing for the afternoon, so feeling good after what turned out to be a great day’s walking!
18kms today, some of which we will go back over tomorrow, and 609km in total.

Looks wonderful, Dave and Al! So many kms!!
We look forward to seeing you and celebrating your 60th, Dave!
