We were pretty ragged when we arrived in Pamplona yesterday – the after effects of a pretty intense 4 days where the horizontal distance did not reflect the effort of ascending and descending! We also didn’t stop enough, something we hope to change over the next few days.

Pamplona is a bit like San Sebastián and Bilbao – some busy streets full of pintxos bars, some historic buildings and some shopping! We took it pretty easy yesterday evening, eating at a Pintxos bar called Bar Gaucho – unknown to us beforehand to be run by an Australian from Melbourne whose parents grew up in Coral Bay and Exmouth!

A good sleep in this morning followed by a bit of a walk, some shopping and a late lunch at another bar called RD. We’ll head out shortly for a few beers and food then hopefully an early night – we have three big days in front of us in the Basque Country before entering the Rioja region at Logrono in five days time!
