Day 21 – Calzadilla de la Cueza to Sahagún

Very chilly start to the day again today! We both made it about 100m before the jumpers came out and even after that we had trouble using our poles because our hands got so cold!

It was another picture perfect day – hardly a cloud in the sky, little to no haze and almost no breeze!

Lots of little villages today: Ledigos (where we stopped but didn’t get a photo!), Terradillos de los Templarios (which we caught only the back end off due to taking a variant), Moratinos (where we would have stopped but could get any service at the bar) and finally the lovely village of San Nicolas del Real Camino, where we had a lovely lunch at Albergue Laganares, about 15km into the day.

Terradillos is supposedly the mid point of the walk which we passed after 385km of walking and 10km of taxi, so 395km into the camino – we’ll see when we finish whether it was or not!

Much the same scenery as yesterday (and the day before!) – very fertile looking fields mostly ploughed and ready to seed – but a bit more interesting because of the villages every few kms.

The last leg was a bit tough – a rocky track beside the N-120 followed by a long entrance into the town through a commercial district.

Rest day tomorrow after the longest section of the walk! 21km today making 397km so far – 21 days completed and 21 to go. The video of our walk today is here.

A bit of an early start – people seem to want to get going about an hour earlier than us, so breakfasts are early!
Just before Ledigos, with Terradillos in the distance. We missed most of Terradillos because we took the advice of another and headed off on a variant that was not all that pleasant.
Halfway!
The winding road leading into Moratinos
A couple of bodegas just before San Nicolas – these ones really did look like hobbit houses!
Lunch with the Iglesia San Nicolas Obispo in the background
Sahagún about 4km away
Our accommodation for a couple of nights – Domus Viatorus
