The second of the two days rated as “severe” in our walk (the first being into Zennor). We thought we’d make it a bit easier by back tracking along the road to Gurnard’s Head, which was an easier start to the day than we thought would otherwise be the case.

It was a beautiful day for working with clear skies, little wind and mostly beautiful views. Not too many steep descents and ascents but continual changes in elevation that at times were marred by a return to the very rocky conditions we experienced going into Zennor.

Tomorrow’s weather doesn’t look too great but one way or another we’ll change from the Atlantic Coast to the English Channel as we pass Cape Cornwall.

Spotted on the path out of Zennor
Looking back on the village of Zennor
Getting back to the coast path just past Gurnard’s Head Inn – sometimes it’s hard to work out where the right path starts so the help was appreciated!
Looking back at the coast line we had omitted by taking the road to Gurnard’s Head
Back on the coast path
A wild horse near Porthmeor Cliffs
Porthmeor Cove
A slab bridge over the creek leading into Porthmeor Cove
The remains of Bosigiran Castle, near where we took a break on the only seat between Zennor and Pendeen Watch
The scraggy coastline to Pendeen Watch
Looking back at Bosigiran Cliff – at many times, including this, the path is incredibly close to a terrible fall
Rocks again on the path
Making our way down to Portheras Cove, where we head lunch before heading on to Pendeen Watch
Passing behind Pendeen Watch – this is the point at which our direction changes from roughly south-west to more southerly as we pass the western end of the UK
Heading off from Pendeen for about a km before we turn inland to our destination, Trewellard
Looking back to Pendeen Watch
A very industrial landscape full of mining spoils, towers and works
Geevnor tin mine
Our accommodation in Trewellard
