It’s going to sound crazy but it really was a great walk today, despite the rain and the “scrambles” up over headlands towards the end.

We hummed and hahed about whether to catch a bus for the section to St Just, or cut a section of the coast out to go in there and wait for some of the weather to pass through but in the we just went for it.

The weather was fairly kind heading toward Cape Cornwall and we were rewarded with beautiful scenery and good, albeit wet, paths. Lots of stacks and remains of Cornwall’s mining past.

The complexion of most things changed after Cape Cornwall: no stacks or ruins but lots of mine shafts; winds and rain, but now coming from behind us as we swing south; the rocky coast changed from sharp, ragged rock to smooth boulders; and we spent more time clambering up and down rock as we passed a few creeks and headlands.

We were happy to get into Sennen Cove but definitely not as weary as our previous couple of days. Tomorrow we’ll pass Land’s End and gradually move around to be traveling east😀

Stepping out into the mist after a lovely stay at Trewellard
The industrial landscape around Trewellard Bottoms
The well restored Levant engine house, apparently used in the Poldark series
Again, evidence of a pretty industrial past heading south
South Zawn, I think, looking south
Another well preserved relic, Crown Mine
Kenidjack Valley, our first big descent and ascent
Looking west from the same spot towards Cape Cornwall
The ruins of Kenidjack castle from the south side of the valley
Cape Cornwall lost in the mist
In between the two western ends of the UK
Rain setting as we head south
An easily identified mineshaft…
… and a less obvious one!
A bit of a scramble up after crossing the creek at Porth Nansen
Lots of these today – at least the pictures of people falling off cliffs seem to be behind us!
Land’s End in the distance – nice underfoot as the rain set in!
Another scramble down to a slab bridge
The “beach” has changed from ragged rocks to rounded boulders
Cape Cornwall in the distance, looking north
Gwnver beach, Sennen Cove and Land’s End
Sennen Cove looking past the two most optimistic swimming flags I’ve ever seen!
Another scramble over the headland between Gwnver beach and Sennen Cove
At last, on the beach at Sennen Cove
A Portuguese man o’war I think
The still dark skies looking north
Today’s walk
