We weren’t to sure what to expect today – the forecast was for a light shower around 10am and then light rain from 2pm onwards. On other days the forecast light shower has meant a drenching however today it was just that as we took a minor road to a place called Predannack in the hope that the public footpath connecting the road to the coastal path actually existed (which it did).
The rain dried up as we connected with the path and we had great walking on a grassy field with no distinct track all the way to a cove called Gew-Graze. Unfortunately, as happened again later near Kynance Cove, there were no markers to point out the path down into the gorge. We had a couple of goes to try to find it, but they all looked pretty precipitous so we took a higher path inland to try to find a better way. You can see on the map of today’s walk the I took us a bit “off piste”!
Anyway, good walking again once we made it back to the track on a grassy field to Kynance Cove, where we found the path down eventually and stopped for a coffee.
In fairly short order after that, we came to “Old Lizard Point”, which perhaps once was the most southern point of mainland England and then to Lizard Point, which apparently now is? We had what must be the most well prepared ham and cheese panini ever made, having taken 30 minutes to do so, at the Wavecrest cafe and then did a quick walk around to Housel Cove before calling it a day and heading into Lizard Village. No rain at all in the afternoon so an unexpected bonus!
