As was the case at Mullion and Lizard Village, the path sort of circles Mawnan Smith as the path rounds a headland so we could choose the length of today’s walk, and we took the quickest way in this time!

To backtrack a bit we decided to shorten the day by taking a taxi to Porthallow, which reduced our walk by at least two hours and took the risk out of a two ferry day. Porthallow is the halfway point of the South West Coast Path: 315 miles from either end, so it is a hit of a milestone stop. Anyway, it was our start for today and we clambered up onto what appears (depending on tomorrow’s path) the last of the majestic cliffs that have been part of everyday since we started. Less than a kilometre in we’d survived yet another very narrow trail separated from a sheer drop by a couple of brambles and were into farmland to Nare Point and from there forest pretty much until reaching our destination.

We managed to navigate both river crossings with ferries which shortened the walk by about 4km.

Another glorious day with some new landscape to see and mostly great paths.
