We are waiting in the lounge of our hotel in Biarritz for the taxi to take us to Biarritz airport and from there to Paris and start the journey home – what a trip!
St. Jean was a very strange town – really one street in the old town and a couple more in the newer town. It was crazy busy the day we arrived and extremely hot the couple of nights we were there – another heatwave in France… Luckily for us our room was air-conditioned! We really didn’t do too much other than have a brief look around the day we arrived and a climb up to the Citadel the next day. We had booked dinner at a very nice restaurant for the day we arrived, which was great but other than that we didn’t venture far before we made our way by train to Biarritz.
Actually, the train took us to Bayonne, and we thought we would catch a taxi from Bayonne to Biarritz (about 20 minutes) but, of course, we arrived in the first day of Bayonne’s four day festival so no taxis and a 20 minute walk from the train station to the temporary bus station to catch a bus to Biarritz!
Again, we were extremely lucky with our hotel and had a great air conditioned room! Biarritz is a really lovely beachside town, about 20 or 30 minutes east from San Sebastián where we started our Camino a few years ago, so we have had a great time. We’ve had a great holiday and it has been great to just chill for the last few days but we are also looking forward to getting home!

Congratulations on the completion of another pilgrimage! Thanks for the wonderful daily updates. Safe travels home!
