We took our time getting here – Singapore for a couple of nights, overnight at Paris airport, flight to Biarritz airport and then the iconic train from Bayonne to SJPDP – but we both feel great about being back! We left on 24 July 2019 with temperatures in the high 30s, low 40s – too hot to look around really – but have returned to much nicer temperatures and outlook for walking!

The train was packed with walkers which was both exciting and a bit intimidating. We thought the town was going to be packed but last night it was quiet compared to our last visit.

Unfortunately my bag got left in Paris, although it found its way to Biarritz overnight – hoping it gets here before too long!

We are going to do a bit of exploring today and get ourselves organized for the days ahead. The first day will be quite short but around 900m elevation and we get picked up to come back here for our third and last night before the journey proper begins.

We feel like we are better prepared to tackle the Pyrenees this time – they look just as daunting but much greener that in 2019. Tomorrow we’ll find out!
