A very different walk today with a lot more ups and downs compared with the more gentle cliff top walking on the previous days.

We were rugged up in our waterproofs but the rain largely stayed away until I took my rain pants off at Watergate Bay beach! From there showers until we were in Newquay itself, where we stopped for a nice (and healthy) lunch.

The walk continues to reward with outstanding ocean scenery – coves, bays and headlands wherever we look! A brief shower caught us just before reaching our hotel but we’ve lucked out – they have a guest laundry! So far the weather has been too cold to dry anything so we’ve not been handwashing and things have banked up!

Had a great time catching up with my cousin, Liz Harvey nee Gaillard at Fistral Beach but forgot to get a photo!

The view from our window at Mawgan Porth this morning – when we walked across the beach yesterday there was sand out to the furthest breakers!
The sprawling village of Trenance, just east of Mawgan Porth
Newquay in the distance
Beacon Cove – from here there were a lot more ascents and descents than previous days
