Today’s walk was by far the most challenging, albeit with some lovely views and the first time we’ve managed to have a sandwich in the sun!

The cliff tops are +/- 100m above sea level and today we had descents and ascents at St Agnes/Trevaunance Cove, Chapel Porth, Porthtowan, and a couple of spots along the coast before a final descent into Portreath, both of which were very steep.

We’re now well and truly into mining country with a number of engine house and other relics of the past along the trail. The pub we are staying in has a party on tonight for it’s 10 anniversary of ownership so should be an interesting night😀

The UK weather bureau is forecasting a big system coming through tomorrow – so could be a bit of a wild and woolly walk tomorrow!

Wheal Friendly engine house, on the walk down from St Agnes back to Trevaunance Cove
Almost full tide at Trevaunance. The second building from the left is Schooners, where we had lunch yesterday
Climbing out of Trevaunance Cove
Looking east. The farthest headland is the first one out of Padstow four days ago!
Pretty rugged coastline after St Agnes Head
The remains of engine houses and other machines at Wheal Coates and Towan Roath
A bit closer
… and looking back. We’d waited out the only real cloud burst today behind the chimney.
The beach at Chapel Porth
and climbing back up to the headland level
Looking back over the drop down to Chapel Porth
We’d bought a sandwich before we left St Agnes, which we enjoyed sitting in the sun on this bench
Coming up to Porthtowan
Porthtowan Beach Café
and after the fairly strenuous climb back out
Just before climbing down to beach level at Gullyn Rock
Looking back after climbing back up from Gullyn Rock beach. To give some idea of the scale of the cliffs, there is a guy sitting on the cliff to the left of the column in the distance.
Before our final up and down!
The final headland before Portreath.
Portreath Beach – there was a surf carnival going on😀
